Inside The Wire: Queertet

Grin Theatre has now been a part of the Liverpool’s LGBTQ+ community for nearly 17 years and we keep on getting stronger as our voices are heard. It has been my pleasure to work with so many brilliant creative people during my time with Grin Theatre, always thrilling, always such a positive experience and always true to its spirit as a leading LGBT fringe theatre company.

The Queertet festival is one of the highlights in  Grin Theatre’s calendar and after having a break of a few years (mainly due to Covid) we are so proud to bring  back this festival of LGBTQ+ short plays to the stage.

This year we cover all the colours of our rainbow flag and we are excited to present four unique and significant queer pieces of theatre.

The accent is  centred on the celebration of being queer and all the plays are definitely upbeat and  speak positively about our community. This year we have really pulled out all the stops and we couldn’t be more thrilled to give our audiences a thoroughly entertaining and great night at the theatre

with a cast of 13 exciting local and national actors, four directors and four writers we hope to explore every aspect of being queer and share all the stories that we’re sure will captivate and inspire our audiences.

James Jarman’s comical Pride and Pre-Drinks tells of complications during  a night out at Pride and hints at more fun to come in the night. Wes Williams’ Lollipops looks at celebrations at a wedding planners party during the Pride celebrations with surprises and lots of cake. Will Coopers comedy drama looks at friends re-united and the need to tell the truth. Wes Williams & Jensen Parkers play By My Name looks at family and friendship through the eyes of a trans man and his best mate.

To tell more about each play would be spoil them, suffice to say, each story will have something powerful and honest to say about all the characters and all the situations that they find themselves in.

Come and join us for the celebration of Queertet 2024 at Studio 3 at the Arts Bar on July 18th & 19th 2024.

The festival is rated 15 (unsuitable for children) and contains strong language throughout and scenes of an adult nature.

Time to celebrate !
