Life after Life: The Script Book
How would you feel if you were told you were dying?
How would you manage?
Life After Life sees Jimmy and Eric on their journey towards the final destination. See their opposing attitudes towards death and the biggest lie we tell ourselves. Follow the struggles, hear their stories, see their unique bond and enjoy this heart felt comedy drama written by Liverpool born writer, Ashley Ali.
This play will delve into not only their battle with the illness but also life before the diagnosis, the heartbreaks that have come before we meet the pair. The use of humour that breaks up these moments shows the approach many have to the challenges that life throws our way, no matter how hard they may be.
Following the success of sell-out shows of ‘The Man with No Identity’ Christopher and his team wasted no time embarking on their next project, Life After Life, written by Ashley Ali, Likeminded Productions’ co-founder.
After his mother’s death in September 2013, Ashley read ‘The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying’. A book about how Tibetan Monks view death and how it is an integral part of living. At the most difficult time of his life, he could not write a thing, not through lack of trying. Writing had always been like therapy, but it didn't work, so he read instead.
Life After Life was performed in October 2018 at The Hope Street Theatre to sold out audiences - starring Peter Durr as Jimmy, Bob Towers as Eric and Caitlin Bradley as Laura. All of whom took the audience on an emotional rollercoaster in the space of 2 hours.
So, grab your tissues because this will be emotional but that’s okay, you’re allowed to cry... be it with sadness or with laughter. This play couldn’t be more fitting to its name ‘Life after Life’, it is written to show all of the highs and the lows that life has to offer us.
