Episode 4 Preview! Likeminded Podcast

We’ve had talented guests join us on our podcast over the last few episodes from the lovely world of theatre. Its been a pleasure to hear about their passions and experiences within the arts. It’s been so valuable to listen and I’ve learnt so much and I hope you, the listener have too and we have plenty more to come. But for now, our next guests are from the world of film.

Ryan Jones and William Grunnill founded Hounds of the Round Table, a new independent film production company. For me, this was a very interesting listen because I’m so fascinated with film, especially the technical side of things. We’ve dabbled in film ourselves with our short films Unspoken and Mindless but not much to establish ourselves within that field. It’s great to get Ryan and William firstly, to hear what goes on behind the scenes of film and how they get an idea from paper to screen and secondly, to give these new creatives a platform to properly introduce themselves as they continue their journey into film.

This is what the podcast is all about, giving upcoming creatives like Ryan and William a chance to not only promote their craft, but to get the listeners to know who they are and hopefully understand a bit more what goes on behind the scenes of anything creative. Listening to these two brought me back to the when we first started back in 2016, especially when they expressed the doubt people had towards them. Ashley and myself had the same problem but if we’d listened, we wouldn’t have this platform that we now have. I say it all the time, passion overcomes everything and these two lads have definitely got passion just like every guest we’ve had on. I love how they just had a go, like many creatives have said on this podcast: ‘Create your own work, get it out there and learn as you go’.

It was refreshing to hear the lads speak so passionately about their debut film - The Lure, which premieres the afternoon of Saturday 24th October. Just in time for halloween. The film stars our very own, Caitlin Bradley who plays the role of Laura. Caitlin was also cast in the horror short ‘The Gaze’ which has just completed principal photography and is commencing post-production.

The Hounds also specialise in documentaries which got them to travel to Brazil to film. How amazing is that! The documentary, called ‘Hope in Brazil’ is available to watch on their YouTube channel. As they’ve stated its not their best work but they learnt a lot from that project and this is what I like about these two, very honest and no ego between the two. I could get the sense that they are a tight nit crew but they bicker from time to time, just like Ashley and I, like married couple but that what makes a great team.

I really am looking forward to seeing how the Hounds develop their production company in the next 18 months. They’re not established online yet but they have the potential, the passion and the ideas to build a solid foundation to make their mark in the film community.
