Plug-In: Part Vampire
It’s spooky season! This week a two-act musical comedy is due to arrive in time for the darkest season of them all.
Blue Park Productions is proud to present Part Vampire, the previously presented one-act performance, which has been dug up from the grave due to an overwhelming demand and transformed into two acts.
The cast are undeniably talented and will provide an unforgettable theatrical experience that will haunt you this October. Starring none other than Liverpool legend Phil Jones (Afraid of Mice, 1979), who blends the theatricality of progressive rock with the raw energy of punk.
Phil Jones shares the stage with his son, Ben and becomes his nemesis. Phil Jones plays a 70-year-old aspiring actor that has lived in the shadows as an extra. As he secures an audition for a pivotal role as a vampire in a rundown film studio, his journey mimics turmoil when a handsome young actor vies for the same part.
During this audition, tensions will rise as strange happenings occur. Audiences will definitely have their teeth (or shall I say fangs) sunken into this wedge of a narrative and in awe of the captivating music (courtesy of Matt Shaw). Part Vampire, written by Kenny O’Connell and directed by Zara Marie Brown will be performed at The Hope Street Theatre (Hope Street) on Friday 6th October and Saturday 7th October, (19:30).
As per usual, The Creative Wire got ahold of the gory details. I asked the creatives how it was adapting the one-act into two. They revealed that it was a natural act as there was ‘always room for the storyline and characters to develop’ due to the open ending of the original. This was achieved by giving each character other goals to achieve. Following this, songs were assigned to various characters and one additional character was added to move the plot.
I wanted to know what it was like working with the Liverpudlian talent, to which the Scouse creatives responded that it was easy, revealing they all have an electric energy and commitment to the theatre. They add that the input across the project from the actors has brought something unique to the project and added an extra layer to the production.
Finally, I wanted to find out what the creatives are most looking forward to. One of the directors has explained to us that ‘sitting alone in a room writing a play can be an isolated experience; this is how I spend most of my days. Now that the stage-play is completed, I look forward to sharing some great music and a fun, entertaining comedy that a talented cast has taken, put their stamp upon, and is eager to share with the public’.
This is going to be such an exciting musical-comedy to get your teeth stuck in to and howl with laughter from start to finish. Secure your tickets now by contacting the BOX OFFICE at TEL: 0344 561 0622.
