As per usual, The Creative Wire got behind the scenes with creators Zara Brown and Rachel Howard Inspiration has been taken from creations such as ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf’ and ‘Abigail's Party’ to devise a play that is situated in one setting and suffocates characters within a tense plot. Originally, the creators wanted to write a dark comedy of a husband and wife, both with the identical motive to kill each other. After thinking deeply into the creative industry and the value of art, the creators believe the plot needed to become something of more artistic intent.

‘Imagine being stuck in space, now imagine you're stuck in space with the worst human being possible. Throw in a couple of dark secrets, loose lies and a fight for survival and you've got yourself a party (as long as you're willing to share the last bag of Maltesers).’

For Mike and Tom, an extended mission aboard the International Space Station means an increase in frustration, tension and decrease of supplies (such as the mentioned Maltesers). California Dreamin’ is a 30 minute dark comedy that centers around shady millionaire, Mike and introverted scientist, Tom. Both have secrets, both have problems and both want out.

Plug-In: The Catbox

A comic drama set in South Manchester, The Catbox focuses on members of the Northern Voices Writers Group. These four socially disastrous, slightly damaged people, without realizing it, have only the writers' group and each other to escape the horrors of the real world. The Catbox will be showcased at Studio Below on Rodney Street, which is run by the local community group, Make it Write Productions. The show is part of the Liverpool Fringe Festival, providing artists and audiences with a unique opportunity to mingle. The festival runs from October 5th to 14th.

The creative team behind new Helen Forrester play By The Waters Of Liverpool have released the first cast images during rehearsals and in costume.  By The Waters Of Liverpool Autumn 2023 UK Tour will run for eight weeks visiting 13 venues across the country. The tour opens in two weeks on Monday 4 September 2023 at The Auditorium at M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool before travelling round the country. The nine-strong cast will play more than 50 characters between them during the production.

Theatre Addict: Podcast Series

Most people don't know this, but my creative journey began in music, where I helped local talents like Jamie Webster, who was then in a band called "Staring at the Stereo," and C-two, a local rapper. I then gradually transitioned to theatre, where I found my passion for creating and storytelling. The success of "The Timeline" series at the Exhibition reignited my passion for audio production.
