What Happens Next?: Story so far..

Last year, Tip Tray Theatre launched the What Happens Next? writing competition, and the response was incredible. The theatre scene in Liverpool hasnt been this excited in a long time. I had the opportunity to work closely with the team at TipTray to promote and host the after party during my time at opening nights. Now, with my new platform The Creative Wire, which has already started coverage on the exciting shows thats part of this event. When I first met Maisy and Evan, I was amazed at how passionate and driven they were and this is the sole reason why I love working with these guys and continue to do so.

I’m also really excited to see what The Creative Wire has covered for this event which at the moment I’m really impressed at the dedication from the team, we have special plug-in , podcasts, and more for each individual show. Our main goal is to showcase the talent that is part of this fantastic event. So, with that being said, let's dive into the origins in this special plug-in and how What happens next all came to be.

The inspiration behind What Happens Next?

Since its inception in 2021, Tip Tray Theatre has been driven by a desire to support emerging artists and emerging art. The team is truly passionate about providing a platform for individuals who have so much to express but may lack the means to do so. Initially, the theatre achieved this by creating original shows in collaboration with young artists from the North West. Within a span of less than a year, they successfully brought three unique productions to life, discovering an engaging and well-received format along the way. However, Tip Tray Theatre was determined not to confine itself to a repetitive cycle of show production every few months. Instead, their vision expanded to embrace a larger community, inviting individuals to join their artistic journey and contribute to the collective creative spirit. This is where What Happens Next? is born.

What Happens next ? is Born

The team at Hope Street Theatre gathered together, engaging in a lively discussion about the possibilities they could bring to their community of brilliant artists. A multitude of great ideas were exchanged, each carrying the potential to create a memorable theatre experience while also helping the growth and development of Liverpool's creatives. Amidst the brainstorming session, a idea emerged – 'What Happens Next?' would be the ideal project to pursue. The team recognised that this project not only promised an exceptional night at the theatre but also held the potential to provide valuable support and opportunities for the talented individuals in the local creative scene. With excitement and determination, they decided to embark on this new journey, eager to see what the future held for 'What Happens Next?'.

Last Years Winner!

January of this year, 'I Am Steven Gerrard' was part of Tip Tray's exciting new writing competition, 'What Happens Next?', which got the theatre scene buzzing, literally. The energy and excitement around the competition were unreal, and now the winner, Sean McLoughlin, has the chance to showcase his debut play in front of a sold-out show - That I guarantee a 100% sell-out.  I was fortunate enough to see the original 20 minutes of the show which was perfectly executed by the very talented Joe Cowin.
