Following Faux Queen’s joint win of Stage and the City’s Deux Festival 2024, the script has been developed and we want to share the progress with you. With this event, we want to raise funds to help develop the play further, gather feedback and work towards creating a future for Faux Queen. We are hosting a variety fundraiser, with a rehearsed reading of the new extended version of Faux Queen (now 30 minutes), plus live music, drag cabaret, comedy and a post-reading Q+A panel!
Faux Queen Synopsis:
Faux Queen is a queer comedy/drama that explores the ever-evolving art form of drag and the people who participate in it.
Miss O’Jenny (AFAB Queen) is booked for her drag debut at the local LGBTQIA+ nightclub for the weekly drag cabaret night. However, the resident drag queen and local drag icon, Fanny Addams, clashes with her and the idea of anyone other than gay men participating in the art of drag.
Fundraising:
All funds raised on the night will go towards the development of Faux Queen into a full length play. These funds will help us in developing the play into a full production, help us to bring on a producer, help us in accessing further funding and work towards taking the play on tour. There will be collection buckets and card readers available for anyone who wishes to donate towards the development of the play.
